Argentina, the good and the bad (weird)

Argentina, the good .......
§ First thing, the food. Just loved the big, beautiful nice peaces of meat. Even what they called not the best tasted better than what we call the best part in the Netherlands. Believe me, Albert Heijns’ (supermarket) Argentina steak are just leftovers. And not to forget all the vegetables they have AND the ensalada de frutas. Loved those as well.
§ Did I already mention the icecream? Really smooth and really a lot of different kind of tastes. Oh and the coffee was really nice as well…must be the Italian influence…
§ The really nice Bed and Breakfast I stayed in in Buenos Aires. On my fist day they took me along to a polomatch and further on to the Theatre Colon. Dinners were nice as well. Oh, and ho could I not mention Tito over here. Meeting him was nice as well.
§ Poloplayers and soccermatches. there is no need to say more.
§ Buenos Aires. Although the air is not that clean, the city is really comfortable. Nice places everywhere, hundreds of restaurants, shops, shopping malls, little bakeries (with really nice things, it is a miracle I did not put weight on) and internet shops (not really cafes). Besides the fact that the city is nice the people are as well. They are really talkative and not shy to start a conversation.
§ Public transport is really ok. It gets you everywhere and is cheap.
§ Patagonia, especially glacier Perito Moreno and its surrounding. I totally fell in love with the countryside over there. I could have stayed a month and still not being bored of the view. Also all the different kind of animals, it was like walking through a zoo. Small parrots (although you have them everywhere in Argentina), flamingo’s, skunks, condors and its family etc etc.
§ Guys are gentleman. When entering public transport they let you in first so you have more change to sit (I am talking about total strangers right now), they open doors for you, run around with your luggage (bit irritating sometimes, but they mean well) let you walk on the housesite of the pavement when it rains, so you won’t get wet (yep, now I am talking about a date) Flying around is really cheap and really easy.
§ Last but not least, dulce de leche caramel (or the other way around) Caramel stuff…good for and good in everything!

Argentina the bad ......
Well there are not really bad things, so we just call them the weird things
§ They have to vote. It is not a choice. They even can be sent to prison when they don’t vote.
§ They wait in line for the bus.
§ The lanes on the street are for tourists, if there are five lanes they pretend there are six. Bit confusing.
§ 98 percent of the streets are one way streets.
§ Downtown Buenos Aires, on one of the most expensive places (ground price) of Argentina are the slopes. People tries to move them, but they won’t leave and they can’t make them leave.
§ Poverty. It is great everything is so cheap over there, but it is sad to see man in suits taking care of other people’s shoes.
§ KLM not having a direct flight, like 10.000 kilometers isn’t bad enough if you have to do it at once. And when we are talking about flying, what is with the inland flight an not having windows at al rows…I hate flying at night and sitting in a total dark plane (all lights were off)and not being able to look out of a window….
§ Really weird, a shop did not had enough change so they gave me some candy as change
§ Couples just love to be together and don’t mind hugging and kissing everywhere. When in you are in love great, but don’t people think that what they are doing is too much (ok, to be honest I “tried” it as well (you should experience as much as you can) and it was nice, but in general it is too much!)
§ The taxi in Buenos Aires is easy to find, they are black and yellow (and really cheap) but what about them in other cities? I have been in them, but that was only because I called for them at the airport or hotel, not because I found them on the streets. You only know you are in one, because of the money/kilometre instrument (the counting thing)
§ The walky talky unction on the cell phones. Although it would be really cool to have them now, because it just costs you a certain amount per month and you can walky talky your way around the world.

Well I guess I can come up with a thousand other things, but once you have to close your holidays, and now is just a nice time. Next update is really a Dutch one, because it will be about ICE SPEED SKATING !
